What is the Panchkarma treatment?

Panchkarma is a great mind-body healing and treatment method for detoxifying the body, strengthening the immune system and restoring balance and well-being. It is one the most effective healing therapy in Ayurveda. It promotes Detoxification and Rejuvenation.

Panchkarma Therapy is a five-fold process therapy; it is highly individualized therapy based on the needs of the individual’s doshic imbalances, age, digestive strength, immune status and many other factors. The most important aspect of this therapy is the presence of both Purification and Rejuvenation.

The all five-fold actions are

[1] Vamana [Medicated Emesis]

Vamana Karma, also known as medicated emesis or medical vomiting, is one of the five Pradhan Karmas of Panchkarma which is used in treating Kaphaj disorders. It is also used to detox upper part (body above umbilicus) of body

[2] Virechana [Purgation]

Virechana therapy is defined as the medicated purgation therapy, which cleanses the Pitta and purifies blood, by clearing the toxins from the body. The treatment concentrates on the toxins that are accumulated in the liver and gall bladder also. It detoxifies mainly lower part (below umbilicus) including upper part of body also.

[3] Basti [Medicated Enema]

Basti Is called medicated enema with cleans and nourishes body via anal root. It has      been given weightage 50 percent among all treatments in medicine department of Ayurveda.

[4] Nasya [Medicated Nasal Administration]

Nasya treatment refers to an Ayurvedic therapy that includes instillation of herbal oils, juices or powders through the nasal route. It works specifically on disorders of ear, nose and throat.

[5] Rakta Mokshana [Blood-letting].

RaktaMokshana is one of the Panchkarma procedures that is carried out for purification and cleansing of blood toxins. A unique treatment to eliminate toxins from the blood. It has been given weightage 50 percent among all treatments in surgical department of Ayurveda.
